Purpose of the Steward Board

The steward board serves the purpose of leading the congregation spiritually through emphasizing  attendance at church functions, regular bible study, and promoting good Christian stewardship among the congregation.. The steward Board is also responsible for the overall finances of the church as well as the support of the pastor.

How do we accomplish this purpose
The steward board meets once a month to discuss the well being of the church's congregation with the pastor. They also use this time to plan changes to the Sunday Worship Service, discuss church finances, and discuss outreach, missions, and other programs and policies that may benefit the membership's growth in number, stewardship and faith.

The stewards also are responsible for the other following organizations which assist in the carrying out of the steward's mission:

Class Leaders- Class Leaders work at keeping in close touch with the congregation on a weekly basis. All the members of Bethel are divided into classes and the Class Leaders are responsible for checking on the members and encouraging church attendance, study of the scriptures, Christian Stewardship, and the living of a Christ lead lifestyle.. The Class Leaders also report any of the congregation's needs to the stewards and the pastor.

Finance Committee- The finance committee which is headed by the Church Treasurer, assists by collecting the monies necessary for the ministries of the church, paying expenses and implementing a system for accounting for those monies.

The Board of Stewards consists of 19 members appointed by the Pastor and are confirmed by the Quarterlerence.  Stewards must be of solid piety, know and love the Word of God, the African Methodist Episcopal Church doctrine, and The Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  They must be fruitful and of good natural or acquired ability to transact the spiritual and temporal business of the church.  The Church Records are kept by the Stewards which contain the registration of all baptisms, marriages, births, deaths, probationers and full members.
