Reverend Stanley Gordon Smith, MDiv
Reverend Smith is an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and educated in the Philadelphia School System. He is now the proud Pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church of Copiague, NY. Before coming to Bethel, Reverend Smith previously pastured St. John A.M.E. Church of Niagara Falls, NY. and Allen A.M.E. Church of Oxford, Pa. Before that, he was a member and on staff as an associate minister of the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Bryn Mawr, Pa., where he was also licensed to preach. He previously served on the Ministerial Efficiency Committee; he was a Conference Trustee and Area Christian Education Director. Also, Rev. Smith served as President of the Niagara Falls Chapter of the NAACP, Vice-President of the Niagara Falls Ministerial Council, Commissioner for the Niagara Falls Housing Authority and board member of HANCI (Health Assoc. of Niagara County, Inc.). Additionally, he has served on the Mayor’s Transition Team and Advisory Broad. He has been involved in several ministries: The Couples United in Christ, Promise Keepers and the Mainline Black Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance. He has served with many other organizations. Reverend Smith was formerly employed for many years as an Account Executive for Government programs at Aetna until he decided to become a full time Pastor. His secular education includes Villanova Univ., Penn State, and Breyer State Univ. where he holds a B.A. in Business Administration. His theological training comes from Palmer Seminary where he holds Master of Divinity degree. He has Certificates in bible from the Moody Bible Institute, Eastern School of Ministry and Bible Deliverance School of Bible. Currently, he is pursuing Doctorial studies at Payne Seminary. Reverend Smith lives in Copiague, New York and been married to the lovely Wanda E. Smith for the last 34 years. They have been blessed with two wonderful children, Carlton Michael Smith, Esquire and Nicole Marie Smith. They have one grandchild, Mariah Nicole Smith. One of Reverend Smith’s favorite passages of scripture is from Psalm 23 “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.” |
