VISITATION MINISTRY

            The Rev. Everton Jones and wife, Jennie, became members of Bethel A.M.E. Church after listening to the service on the radio.  In 1970, the Rev. Simon Bouie was Pastor. Shortly after, he accepted the call to the ministry.  After passing all the requirements, he was ordained a Local Deacon by Bishop Frank Curtis Cummings on April 25, 1987.  He now is one of the assisting ministers under the pastorate of Reverend Stanley Gordon Smith.

             Rev. Jones is the Minister of Visitation, seeing after the membership that is sick and homebound, making sure that they receive Holy Communion.  Prayer and encouragement are a large part of this ministry.  Rev. Jones also facilitates the Bible Study on Thursday mornings at 10:00a.m., filling in for Pastor Smith, teaching Bible Study on Wednesdays evening at 7:00p.m. when Pastor Smith cannot be present.
